Goathland is a traditional moorland village offering a variety of attractions and activities. The village has achieved fame as "Aidensfield" in YTV's popular series "Heartbeat". Visitors can often watch the cast filming in the village. 

The village is host to the beautifully preserved and restored North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The trains travel from Grosmont to Pickering via Goathland, through an awe-inspiring landscape.  Steam enthusiasts can also make use of our steam video library.

The area is ideal for walking and sight-seeing. Just a short stroll in any direction takes you to miles of moorland,  wooded valley's, cascading waterfalls and historic sites including the Roman Road. 

The village offers a range of facilities including; an information point, post office, grocery and gift shops, St. Mary's Church, tea rooms and public houses.
